RESEARCH:
I specialize in business and economic journalism at the Columbia Graduate School of Journalism. My work here involves developing news analyses, applying social research techniques in reporting and storytelling and producing weekly news, feature and enterprise stories on a wide range of subjects of ongoing debate in corporate and financial America and the international economic sphere. My specific interests revolve around reporting and writing on subjects covering monetary and fiscal economic policy framework planning, economic and cultural globalization, the impact of economic changes on the cultural and geopolitical frameworks of societies, cultural psychologies, and the interrelationships between governments, businesses and societies.
For my thesis, I am doing on a story on the effectiveness of Citigroup's current risk models in boosting its profitability post-crisis, rebuilding its image in the eyes of regulators and facilitating the bank's move to invest more actively in emerging markets.
OTHER RESEARCH/ WRITING INTERESTS
1) Human interest - terrorism, honor killings, racial profiling, genocide, female genital mutilation, education, civil rights, legal/ judicial systems and the impact of crime on the geopolitical frameworks of nation states
2) Impact of social campaigning on human rights
3) Media influences on the cognitive and social development of children and youth;
4) Impact of market structures on political and sociocultural life
5) Poverty, financial inclusion and educational rights
