About

I am a music theorist-analyst (and part-time composer and philosopher of music) specializing primarily in "classical" music since 1900. I also write on music of other time periods such as the Middle Ages.

My most recent publication is on Elliott Carter's music and analytical approaches including computational and narrative :

At professional conferences I've presented on various topics including music of
• Schoenberg
• Crawford Seeger
• Ligeti
• Brahms

and issues of
• electroacoustic music
• narrativity
• perception of octave equivalence and long-term memory with atonal melodies
• binary-state generalized interval systems
• computational approaches to dynamic form
